Three-phase medium voltage dry-type transformers are typically used in high and very high power installations. Voltages range from a few kilovolts to a few tens of kilovolts in industrial environments.
These electrical transformers feature substantial galvanic isolation, ranging from several tens to hundreds of kilovolts (kV), depending on the voltage values applied to the selected products. Medium voltage transformers play a key role in separating electrical networks and are typically used as step-down transformers to convert the high and medium voltages (11kV, 15kV, 20kV or 30kV) of electrical networks into usable voltages of around 400V, 690V or 800V three-phase, in businesses or large professional electrical installations.
In their standard Dyn11 or Dyn5 coupling configuration, meaning with a star-connected secondary, they also allow the creation of a neutral point, preventing the phenomenon of floating phase voltages that can damage electrical installations or machines.
