Three-phase to single-phase transformers

Three-phase to single-phase transformers, commonly referred to as "tri-mono", convert a three-phase network into a single-phase network while ensuring better load distribution across the three-phase network than a simple phase-to-neutral connection.

As with all electrical transformers, it is an isolation transformer with substantial galvanic isolation, generally 3,000 Volts minimum. Like more conventional transformers, it can therefore also play a role in separating electrical networks.

The three-phase to single-phase transformer generally complies with the power transformer standard (IEC 60076-11). Most often installed in technical rooms or close to machinery, they are usually enclosed (IP21, IP23 or IP33) to protect people. They can also be supplied "Bare" (IP00) for installation in a secure cabinet, or "Weatherproof" (IP5X) if the environment is subject to heavy splashing.
