What are the current standards and regulations for industrial electrical transformers?

Standard

Industrial electrical transformers are subject to a set of standards and regulations to ensure their safety, performance and compliance with European and environmental requirements. At Le Cosinus, we ensure that our processors strictly comply with these regulations to offer our customers reliable and sustainable solutions.

Compliance with international standards

Our transformers are designed and tested in accordance with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which is the international standardization organization for the fields that concern us: Electricity, Electronics and Electromagnetic Compatibility. The NF or EN standards are themselves integrated into IEC standards. There is no longer any need to differentiate between them.

Depending on the uses of the products, we commonly practice the following standards:

  • IEC 61558: It concerns the safety of transformers, inductors, and power supply. It is broken down into many parts depending on the uses of the products:
  • IEC 61558-1: General requirements and testing
  • IEC 61558-2-1: Special requirements and tests for separately wound isolation transformers
  • IEC 61558-2-2: Special rules and tests for control transformers
  • IEC 61558-2-3: Special requirements and tests for ignition transformers for gas and liquid fuel burners
  • IEC 61558-2-4: Special requirements and tests for circuit separation transformers
  • IEC 61558-2-6: Special rules and tests for safety transformers
  • IEC 61558-2-13: Special rules and tests for autotransformers
  • IEC 61558-2-15: Special requirements and tests for circuit separation transformers for medical premises

For power transformers we practice the standard: IEC 60076-11: Dry-type transformers

Le Cosinus also has a UL/CSA insulation system number: E3595650

For our British friends, we are also in compliance with the obligations related to the UK Conformity Assessed. (UKCA)

Environmental Commitment and Safety Regulations

We are committed to integrating environmental and safety requirements into the design of our transformers. For example, we comply with the European Directive 2014/30/EU on electromagnetic compatibility, ensuring that our solutions are seamlessly integrated into existing electrical installations.

Concernant la directive Eco Design, elle s’applique aux transformateurs HT/BT. Cependant nous sommes d’ores et déjà en mesure de vous fournir des transformateurs à très faible consommation.

By choosing Le Cosinus transformers, our customers benefit from equipment that meets the most demanding standards, synonymous with reliability, performance and compliance with current standards. We are at their disposal to support them in their projects and guarantee a tailor-made solution adapted to their needs.
